Smith-Chapel, Juliénas, Vayolette, 2020

David Chapel and Michele Smith met at Domaine Lapierre with Mathieu and Camille Lapierre in 2013. Michele was a sommelier in NYC at the time at Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare. David is the son of Alain Chapel, a legendary three-star chef whose restaurant in Mionnay contributed enormously to "nouvelle cuisine." The wines have nothing to do with the very drinkable Beaujolais, we are talking here about a wine with structure and substance. We still perceive the strawberry aromas but with this delicious spicy side!
